My gliding experience:
Cdt lappage
This was my first time gliding and I found it amazing. I feel like it has opened so many new doors for me as well as being a lot of fun. On the day, I got to do other things on top of gliding, for example when people came in to land, the glider needed to be moved so some other cadets and I spent some time positioning the gliders, being wingtip holders or attaching the winchline. Overall it was a great experience and I highly recommend it to anyone who gets the opportunity.

Gilding with Air Cadets was awesome! We were shot up into the air at around 80 knots at what felt like vertically – but was probably more like forty-five degrees. The whole flight was made even better by the pilot explaining what was happening throughout the flight and pointing out when he did important things. When we were not flying, we were pushing the gliders into position and ensuring they were stable during take-off, for other cadets to have their turn. We were taught more about pitch, yaw and roll and how they looked and felt in the aircraft. At one point we were even given supervised control of the aircraft and allowed to try some of these movements ourselves. I can’t wait for the next opportunity to do more gliding and learn more about how the plane flies.
